With a Cough and a Sneeze

So, I didn’t get much writing done this week, on account of the fact that I was hella sick. Not bedridden, but in that uncomfortable middle ground where you’re coughing and sweating and your temperature regulation is swinging back and forth like a drunk man on a unicycle, leaving you perpetually exhausting. The first day, I was so tired that it was all I could do binge the first two Sonic movies. The second day, I felt well enough until I took a simple five-minute drive to the shops and promptly died.

And on the third day I was basically fine. The immune system is a fickle beast.

Anyway, progress on Tales from Karatera: Spiritbinders is coming along. I’ve just finished the fourth draft, though I’ll likely need a beta reader to go through it. I’ve also got Tales from Karatera 3 in the works, though I’m not even halfway through the first draft of that one yet. I was halfway through Tales from Karatera 4 before scrapping it, and I’ve only got the most vague of ideas for the other four.

So all in all, the project’s going slowly. Not that I expected to be flying through it. I am writing this alongside a full-time job after all.

Currently, the plan for these short stories is for each of them to explore a different region and political faction of Karatera, each from the perspective of a different character. A Soldier’s Lot is the only exception to this. It kinda introduces two of the big factions, the Bluebane Alliance and the Redblood Mercenaries, but the main point is to introduce the themes of Karatera, rather than the lore. I’ll probably have larger pieces dedicated to each faction in the later stories.

Anyway, Spiritbinders coming soonish. See you next week!
